A number of different appliance designs are currently in use for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring . They all basically work by opening the vertical , posturing the mandible forward , altering tongue posture in anterior direction ,and / or supporting the soft palate in order to open the airway and keep the tongue forward . The amount of opening and anterior repositioning provided by these appliances vary according to their design protocol .several of the more frequently used designs are shown on the pages that follow. |
